40-Day Journey of Repentance, Prayer and Fasting: Embracing God’s Transformative Grace to Save America

Dear friends, I encourage you to join me in praying the prayer below - beginning September 26, 40 days before the 2024 Presidential Election on November 5 - every day for the next 40 days. The number 40 holds deep significance in the Bible. It represents testing, transformation, and renewal. Noah endured 40 days of rain, Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai, and Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness. These 40 days were times of preparation and spiritual strength.

In the book of Jonah, the people of Nineveh were given 40 days to repent, and God spared them from destruction (Jonah 3:4-10). Let us use this time to humble ourselves before God, ask for His mercy, and seek His guidance for our lives, our families, and our beloved country, America. Let us believe for transformation, revival, and the manifestation of God's power as we embark on this 40-day journey together.

In Scripture, God is the one who speaks of a great outpouring of His Spirit in the last days, specifically in Joel 2:28-29, which is later quoted by the Apostle Peter in Acts 2:17-18:

And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

This promise is seen as a prophecy of revival that will occur before the end times, often referred to as a "great revival" in Christian eschatology. Peter’s reference to this passage during Pentecost shows that this outpouring of the Spirit had begun but also points to a larger, end-time fulfillment.

While Jesus Himself doesn’t directly use the phrase “great revival,” He speaks of significant spiritual movements and the spreading of the Gospel in Matthew 24:14: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” This passage is often connected with the idea of revival in the last days.

So, the promise of a great revival originates from God’s prophecy in Joel, with Jesus foretelling the global spread of the Gospel that could be seen as part of this revival.

Let us believe for transformation, revival, and the manifestation of God's power that during these 40 days, we will see a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit as we repent, seek His face, and invite God's presence into our lives and nation.

A Prayer of Praise and Cleansing: Surrendering to God's Strength, Forgiveness, and Faithfulness

Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a heart full of praise. You are my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer. “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge” (Psalm 18:2). I thank You for being my strength and my source of peace and hope. I humble myself before You, repenting of my sins and asking for Your forgiveness. Lord, cleanse me from all sin, bitterness, and unforgiveness. I ask You to remove anything that separates me from You and to fill me with Your presence. Your mercies are new every morning, and Your faithfulness endures forever (Lamentations 3:22-23).

A Confession of Brokenness and Victory: Trusting in God’s Healing, Restoration, and Abundant Promises

Lord, I confess my sins and shortcomings, knowing that “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise” (Psalm 51:17). Cleanse me, O Lord, and restore me to the joy of Your salvation (Psalm 51:12). You have promised, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). Today, I receive Your healing and restoration. You are the Good Shepherd, leading me beside still waters and restoring my soul (Psalm 23:2-3). I declare that I will live in victory, for “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1).

Father, I invite Your power into every area of my life. Open doors that no man can shut, and close those that are not Your will. I stand on Your promise that “You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance”(Psalm 65:11). Let Your abundance flow in my life, bringing peace, joy, and purpose. I speak healing over my body, soul, and spirit, declaring that by the stripes of Jesus, I am healed (Isaiah 53:5).

A Prayer of Repentance and Blessing for Family: Seeking God’s Grace, Protection, and Wisdom for Our Homes

Lord, I lift up my family to You. I repent on behalf of my household, and I ask for Your grace and mercy to cover us. Your Word says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1). Father, build our homes according to Your will. I speak blessings over my spouse, my children, and every member of my family. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you” (Numbers 6:24-25). I declare that “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him” (Proverbs 20:7). My children will grow in wisdom, faith, and the knowledge of Your love. They will be like trees planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in season (Psalm 1:3).

Father, I ask You to open the door of Your protection over our home. “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). I declare that no harm will come near us, and Your angels will guard us in all our ways (Psalm 91:10-11).

A Prayer for Work and Provision: Trusting God’s Guidance and Favor in All Our Endeavors

Lord, I bring my work and my endeavors before You. I repent for relying on my own strength instead of trusting in You. Your Word says, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established” (Proverbs 16:3). I declare that the work of my hands is blessed, and I will eat the fruit of my labor in peace and joy (Psalm 128:2). Your favor surrounds me like a shield (Psalm 5:12), and everything I set my hands to will prosper.

Father, I invite Your power into my work. Open doors of opportunity and close doors that are not aligned with Your will. I declare, “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom” (Deuteronomy 28:13). I decree financial breakthrough, provision, and success.

A Prayer for Ministries: Calling for God’s Spirit to Empower Leaders and Ignite Revival

Lord, I speak blessings over every ministry that is serving in Your name. I ask for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit upon every pastor, leader, evangelist, and servant. Let revival fire burn in every ministry. May the Gospel be preached with boldness, and may every ministry experience growth and fruitfulness. “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest field” (Luke 10:2). I decree that our ministries will be beacons of hope and light, drawing people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

A Prayer for America: Repentance and Revival in Our Nation’s Nineveh Moment

Father, I lift up America to You. Our country is at a crossroads—a “Nineveh moment.” In 2013, during my last interview with Billy Graham, he said that America could be saved if we turn back to You. Lord, we remember Jonah’s message to Nineveh, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown” (Jonah 3:4). When the people of Nineveh repented, You relented from bringing destruction (Jonah 3:10). Father, have mercy on America. We repent for the sins of our land and pray that You turn our hearts back to You. Let revival break out in every corner of this nation. “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). Lord, heal our land.

A Prayer for Hollywood: Calling for Repentance and Revival in Media and Arts

Father, I also lift up Hollywood before You. Hollywood holds immense influence over our culture and the hearts of millions. We ask for a powerful move of Your Spirit in Hollywood. Let there be revival among actors, directors, producers, and everyone in the industry. May the media and arts reflect Your truth.

Just as You did with Nineveh, bring repentance and change to Hollywood. Let this industry be a platform for spreading hope, love, and truth. “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1). We declare that revival is coming to Hollywood.

A Declaration of Victory and Transformation: Standing on God’s Promises as Revival Unfolds

Lord, I thank You for hearing our prayers. I stand in faith, believing that transformation is happening right now. I declare victory over sin, darkness, and every plan of the enemy. Father, transform our lives, families, ministries, nation, and Hollywood. Let Your revival fire burn in every area of our lives.

We stand on Your promises, knowing “The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace”(Psalm 29:11). We are more than conquerors through Christ. Revival is coming, and transformation is here. To You be all the glory, honor, and praise.
