As we step into this new year together, we do so with gratitude and hope. This is more than a calendar change—it is a defining spiritual moment. The world around us continues to shake—politically, economically, culturally, and spiritually—but Scripture reminds us that shaking often precedes revival. What we are witnessing at the dawn of 2026 is not random. It is purposeful, prophetic, and deeply significant.
As Jesus said, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28)
A Nation in Transition
As America enters 2026, two powerful stories are unfolding side by side—one in the halls of government and another in the hearts of the people.
President Donald Trump has completed his first year back in office, a year marked by unexpected economic momentum and dramatic political disruption. According to government data cited by the administration, the U.S. economy recorded 4.3% GDP growth in the third quarter of 2025, representing a 79% increase in the growth rate compared to the final quarter of the Biden administration. The trade deficit has reportedly been reduced by 60%, energy prices have fallen, interest rates have declined, and financial markets surged to record highs—boosting retirement accounts and consumer confidence.
President Trump has described this season as the beginning of a new “Golden Age,” crediting tax reform, tariffs, deregulation, and energy independence for restoring economic momentum and national confidence. Critics who once predicted collapse have been forced to repeatedly adjust their forecasts as the data continues to defy expectations.
Yet as watchmen, we understand a critical truth: economic improvement alone does not determine a nation’s destiny.

A recent Barna study found that for the first time in decades, Generation Z and Millennials are now the most regular churchgoers in America, surpassing older generations that once formed the backbone of church attendance.
Millennials and Gen Z Christians are attending church more frequently than before and much more often than are older generations. The typical Gen Z churchgoer now attends 1.9 weekends per month, while Millennial churchgoers average 1.8 times—a steady upward shift since the lows seen during the pandemic.
These are easily the highest rates of church attendance among young Christians since they first hit Barna’s tracking.
Daniel Copeland, Barna’s vice president of research, said, “Among all churched adults, we found that they attend, on average, 1.6 times per month, or roughly two out of every five weekends. Even so, the fact that young people are showing up more frequently than before is not a typical trend. It’s typically older adults who are the most loyal churchgoers. This data represents good news for church leaders and adds to the picture that spiritual renewal is shaping Gen Z and Millennials today.”
Father Gerald Murray, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church in New York, said this shift reflects both the grace of God and the influence of unexpected voices.
“It’s the grace of God, of course, because He moves hearts and souls,” Murray said. “But then He has these instruments on earth.”
Murray noted that the shocking murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk served as a wake-up call for many young people—prompting them to wrestle with eternal questions: How should I live? What is truth? What is the foundation of our nation?
Across denominations—Catholic, evangelical, and charismatic alike—leaders are witnessing a renewed hunger for Scripture, repentance, and authentic faith.

A Prayer for 2026: Hope Rising in a Shaken Nation
Heavenly Father,
We come before You at the threshold of a new year, acknowledging that You alone are sovereign over time, history, and the destiny of nations. As we enter 2026, we do not place our hope in governments, systems, or human strength—but in You, the Living God, who never changes.
Lord, You have allowed this nation to be shaken. We recognize that the shaking is not meant to destroy us, but to awaken us. Strip away what is built on pride, deception, and compromise, and establish what is founded on truth, righteousness, and reverence for Your name.
We thank You that hope is rising—that You are stirring hearts across America. We see it in renewed hunger for Your Word, in prodigals returning home, in young people seeking truth, and in churches awakening to their calling. What the enemy meant for evil, You are turning for good.
Father, we ask for repentance to sweep this land—not shallow words, but genuine turning of hearts back to You. Heal our families. Restore holiness in Your Church. Rekindle first love. Teach us to fear the Lord again, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Raise up watchmen who will not sleep. Give Your people discernment to see clearly, courage to stand boldly, and compassion to speak truth in love. Guard us from deception, dullness, and distraction. Help us to stay awake in this critical hour.
We pray for America. We ask that mercy would triumph over judgment, that righteousness would exalt this nation, and that Your purposes would prevail over every agenda not aligned with Your will. Let Your light expose darkness, and let Your Spirit move freely across this land.
As we step into 2026, we surrender this year fully to You. Prepare us for what lies ahead—not with fear, but with faith; not with anxiety, but with peace; not with passivity, but with obedience.
May we steward this moment well.
Your Kingdom come. Your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. We declare that Jesus Christ is Lord over our lives, our families, our churches, and our nation.
