Historic Handshake in Washington: A White House Gamble for Peace
Can This 20-Point Plan End the Gaza War — or Is It Another Sign of the Times?
On the South Lawn of the White House, President Donald J. Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stood side by side to unveil a 20-point Gaza peace framework — a bold diplomatic gamble that calls for a 72-hour cease-fire, the return of all hostages, and a phased Israeli withdrawal tied to verified disarmament.
The plan also creates a new international Board of Peace — chaired by Trump himself — to oversee the demilitarization of Gaza, reconstruction efforts, and political transition.
“This is the most serious push for peace since the Abraham Accords,” Trump said, giving Hamas “three or four days” to accept the plan. “If they refuse, the United States will stand squarely behind Israel to finish the job.”
We, as well as many Christians, believe we are witnessing the birth pangs that Jesus described in Matthew 24:6-8 — wars and rumors of wars, upheaval among the nations, and an increasing longing for ‘peace and safety.’
The moment was a reminder that while diplomatic efforts may offer temporary reprieve, lasting peace will never come through human agreements alone but points us to the nearness of God’s kingdom.
What President Trump added from the podium
Scope beyond Gaza: Trump framed the initiative as part of a broader aim—“peace in the Middle East… eternal peace”—linking Gaza talks to Iran, trade, and the expansion of the Abraham Accords.
Non-Israeli enforcement: He said Arab and Muslim nations have committed (many in writing) to demilitarize Gaza, decommission Hamas’ capabilities, destroy tunnels and weapons production, and help train local police for a transitional authority.
Sequencing & leverage: Israel’s withdrawal would be in phases and conditioned on demonstrable progress. If regional partners “are unable to do so,” Israel retains U.S. “full backing” to remove the threat.
Hostages—living and deceased: Trump repeatedly underscored that all remaining hostages must return within 72 hours of acceptance, noting the deep importance to families of repatriating the bodies of the fallen as well.
Board of Peace mechanics: Trump said leaders across the region asked him to chair the oversight body. Tony Blair is among those who’ve expressed interest in serving. The board would work with the World Bank and assemble a Palestinian-led technocratic team with global experts—explicitly excluding Hamas and other terror groups from any role in governance.
New channel with Qatar: Trump announced a formal trilateral mechanism (U.S.–Israel–Qatar) to enhance security coordination, correct misperceptions, and avoid future missteps—crediting Doha’s mediation role and a “heart-to-heart” call with Prime Minister Al Thani.
Roll call of regional interlocutors (as Trump recounted): Saudi Arabia’s king; the Emir of Qatar; UAE leaders (MBZand ABZ); Jordan’s king; Turkey’s President Erdogan; Egypt’s President el-Sisi; Indonesia’s President Prabowo; and leaders in Pakistan—along with outreach to European allies who, Trump said, called to verify the effort and offer support.

Designated Disrupter: Trump and Other Unlikely Agents of Revival
(Charisma House/FrontLine, Jan. 6, 2026) by Pulitzer Prize–nominated journalist and six-time #1 bestselling author Troy Anderson. In this prophetic new book, Anderson spotlights President Trump as the central “disrupter” God is using to confront cultural darkness and prepare the way for revival. Yet Trump has not stood alone—by his side have been unlikely agents of change, including Charlie Kirk, a bold leader of the next generation, and many others. Charlie’s courage, faith, and unflinching stand for truth embody the spirit of disruption that is sparking a Great Awakening across America, especially among young people. Together, these voices are shaping a movement that could change America’s destiny.
Netanyahu’s Balancing Act
On the eve of his White House meeting with President Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sat down with Fox News’ Sunday Briefing and gave his clearest signal yet of how far he is willing to go.
“The proposal is not yet finalized,” he said, “but we’re working with President Trump’s team as we speak.”
For Netanyahu, the red lines remain firm: bring the hostages home; dismantle Hamas’ rule; demilitarize Gaza and rebuild it for both Gazans and Israelis — but do not repeat the mistake of turning Gaza over to the same corruption-ridden, terror-financing Palestinian Authority, and do not accept a Palestinian state next door while its textbooks still preach our annihilation.
At the same time, he left a narrow opening for a face-saving exit by the enemy’s leadership. If Hamas’ top commanders lay down their arms and release every hostage, Israel could allow them to leave the Strip under escort.
“We’ve said this before,” Netanyahu noted, “but only if it’s worth that.”
If they refuse, he was just as blunt:
“Israel will finish the job by itself. This can be done the easy way or the hard way — but it will be done.”
Israel’s five principles—reaffirmed beside Trump
Netanyahu said Trump’s plan aligns with his cabinet’s day-after principles:
All hostages—living and deceased—return immediately.
Hamas disarmed; Gaza demilitarized.
Israel retains security responsibility, including a security perimeter, for the foreseeable future.
No Hamas and no PA in Gaza’s civilian administration; instead a peaceful, non-terror technocratic authority.
If Hamas rejects or cheats, Israel “will finish the job”—“the easy way” (via the plan) is preferred, but “the hard way” remains available.
He also backed Trump’s line against recognition of a Palestinian state post-October 7, absent radical and proven transformation inside the PA (ending pay-for-slay, cleansing incitement from textbooks and media, recognizing Israel as the Jewish state, and halting lawfare in international courts).
Netanyahu publicly thanked the IDF (“fight like lions”), referenced joint strikes he said hit Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, and welcomed the trilateral U.S.–Israel–Qatar track to manage grievances and keep diplomacy on course.
As we honor Charlie Kirk’s fearless stand for truth, we’re reminded of the urgency of our times. The #1 bestseller Revelation 911 by Pastor Paul Begley and Troy Anderson uncovers the prophetic battle now unfolding and the great revival rising in our generation.
A New Board of Peace
The framework creates a “Board of Peace” that will function as both political steering committee and accountability council. Trump will chair it; former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair has been floated as a likely vice-chair or CEO-type day-to-day executor.
For Washington, it is an explicit bet that Trump’s personal prestige can galvanize Arab partners—especially the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar—to take unprecedented risks in policing post-Hamas Gaza.
JINSA’s John Hannah: “A Very Large Order”
In an on-air analysis with LiveNOW’s Andy Mac, John Hannah, senior fellow at the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), called the requirement that Arab forces help secure Gaza and finish Hamas’ disarmament “a very large order—one they have historically shied away from.”
“If Hamas rejects the offer,” Hannah said, “it flips the narrative. The monkey is on Hamas’ back, and international pressure eases on Israel. But if the plan is to succeed, Arab partners must step up on the ground, and the Board of Peace must hold every party to its commitments.”
Hannah argued that Trump’s decision to personally chair the board—rather than delegate it to another international figure—“can only help,” giving the effort focus and authority.
Hard Realities on the Ground
The plan’s **end-state vision—conditional, long-term Palestinian self-rule once radicalization is uprooted—**remains controversial in Israel’s governing coalition. Netanyahu must keep support from right-wing partners who want to fight until the last Hamas cell is eliminated and reject any return of PA authority.
Meanwhile, much of the Israeli public, war-weary after two years of conflict, prioritizes ending the bloodshed and freeing the remaining 20 hostages—living or dead.
In Gaza, even a cease-fire would not instantly end humanitarian hardship or mutual distrust. Netanyahu maintains that Hamas’ diversion and theft of aid—not Israeli policy—caused civilian deprivation and says Israel has delivered “one ton of food per person per day” since the war’s start.

What Comes Next
Hamas’ answer — within days: Acceptance means swift hostage release and guns falling silent; rejection likely brings a new round of fighting with full U.S. backing.
Finalizing the Board of Peace: The choice of members beyond Blair will signal how much buy-in Washington can muster from the region.
Regional muscle: True demilitarization of Gaza depends on whether Arab partners put boots on the ground.
Domestic politics: Netanyahu’s coalition stands on a razor’s edge; any shift toward concessions could topple his government even as the Israeli street longs for peace and closure.
Qatar channel: Watch whether the new U.S.–Israel–Qatar track produces practical steps that de-escalate tensions and pressure Hamas to accept terms.
A Tenuous Path to Peace
The White House rollout and Netanyahu’s careful endorsement mark the first time since October 7, 2023, that Israel’s leadership has publicly embraced a political path alongside the military campaign.
Whether the effort becomes a turning point or a footnote hinges on Hamas’ response and on whether regional players—so far adept at funding cease-fires but reluctant to enforce them—finally accept direct responsibility for Gaza’s future.
For now, the world waits to see if a cease-fire born in Washington can survive the battle-hardened streets of Gaza City.
Prophetic Insight
In this moment of fragile diplomacy, we are reminded of the words of the prophet Isaiah:
“He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.” — Isaiah 2:4
We, as well as many Christians, believe we are witnessing the birth pangs that Jesus described in Matthew 24:6-8—wars and rumors of wars, upheaval among the nations, and an increasing longing for “peace and safety.”
The prophet Daniel (Daniel 9:27) also foretold a coming global leader who will confirm a covenant of peace—signaling a pivotal moment in end-time history.
The present calls for discernment: peace efforts in the Middle East can be steps toward relief for the suffering, but they also remind us that lasting peace will not come through human treaties alone. These events point us to the nearness of Christ’s return and the need to stay watchful, prayerful, and faithful.
As we hope for the release of hostages and the protection of the innocent, we remember that true and enduring peace will be established only by the Prince of Peace.
A Powerful Prayer
Lord of Heaven and Earth, We lift up the leaders now shaping the future of Israel and Gaza. Grant them wisdom that is pure and peace-loving. Thwart every hidden plan of violence and expose every scheme of terror.
Comfort those who mourn, protect the vulnerable, bring the captives home, and let the suffering find relief. Teach the nations to seek peace not as a political bargain but as a reflection of Your justice and mercy.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Salvation Prayer
For anyone reading these words who senses the call of God:
Heavenly Father, I confess that I am a sinner in need of Your grace. I believe that Jesus Christ, Your Son, died on the cross for my sins and rose again to give me eternal life.
Today I repent and turn from my old ways. I invite Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, teach me to follow Your Word, and help me to walk in Your peace and hope.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer today, we encourage you to tell a trusted believer, be baptized, and begin reading the Bible daily as you grow in your new life in Christ.
