In times of distress, people often turn to the Lord for refuge. However, biblical passages also shed light on the idea of seeking physical shelter during periods of divine judgment. Revelation 6:15-16 (NIV) paints a vivid picture of individuals, from kings to slaves, hiding in caves and among rocks, desperately seeking protection from the wrath of God. This suggests a widespread inclination to find refuge underground to escape impending divine retribution.

This passage suggests that people will indeed seek shelter in caves and underground places to escape the judgment of God during the end times. Isaiah also speaks of people hiding in caves from the glory of the Lord's presence:
Similarly, Isaiah 2:20-21 (NIV) describes people discarding their idols and fleeing to caverns and rocky crags to evade the "fearful presence of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty" during times of judgment. While modern underground bunkers are not explicitly mentioned in the Bible, these passages hint at a pattern of seeking shelter in subterranean structures to avoid divine wrath. Thus, the concept resonates with the biblical narrative of seeking sanctuary from God's impending judgment.

They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from the fearful presence of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth."

The Apostle John may not have directly seen these underground bunkers, but the descriptions in Revelation and Isaiah align with the concept of people seeking shelter in caves and underground structures to escape divine judgment.

While the elite may choose to build underground bunkers for their security, as Christians, we place our faith in Jesus Christ. Security and Privacy:
Instead of relying on physical fortifications, as followers of Jesus, we find security in our relationship with God. Psalm 91:2 declares, "I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" Our trust in God's protection surpasses any earthly shelter.

While underground bunkers may provide protection from natural disasters, we trust in God's sovereignty over nature. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

Amidst geopolitical tensions and uncertainty, Christians find peace in knowing that God is in control of world events. Proverbs 21:1 assures us, "The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases." We trust in God's sovereign rule over nations.

Preparation for Unknown Threats:
Rather than preparing for unknown threats with physical shelters, Christians rely on God's wisdom and guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." We trust in God's ability to lead us through uncertainty.
