New Year Tragedy and Shock: Bourbon Street Terror Attack Rocks New OrleansAs I reflect on the horrifying events that unfolded early this morning, Bourbon Street—New Orleans' vibrant heart—turned into a place of devastation. What should have been a night of joy and celebration became a chilling act of terror, leaving our nation shaken. Early on January 1, 2025, a truck-ramming attack claimed 15 lives and left over 35 people injured. Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. Army veteran from Texas, carried out this unspeakable act, leaving behind an ISIS flag, weapons, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The FBI has confirmed the incident is being investigated as an act of terrorism.
